billyjoelisgay February 21, 2010 at 2:25 am

im suffering from tinnitus and nobody whom dosen’t suffer from this will never properly understand it, to be blunt, there’s no cure! so dont waste your money trying to cure it, it gets worse when your stressed and depressed, so the only way to beat it is to keep busy and try and be a happy person. the biggest shock of it all is the 1st day you get it and your’ve never heard of tinnitus before, but after a while you try and cope with it,, x

I suffered from Tinnitus from years. I ended up in the hospital with panic attacks. I was taking sleeping tablets, I also used to drink alcohol. I eventually stopped taking those. Tinnitus is almost gone. I can sleep better. Conclusion: Tinnitus is aggravated by alcohol and sedatives. It took around 3 months for it to die down to minimal.

AussieBrock February 21, 2010 at 4:57 am

Apparently if you get it as a kid, your chances are very low to carry it into adulthood.

I think I have it now, but i’m more comftable my dad has it as well. He doesn’t take much notice of it, but mine annoys the shit out of me.

GayForJC February 21, 2010 at 5:33 am

no it does go away but it will take months. in the meantime i suggest getting an earplug or something to dampen the noise just in case.

GayForJC February 21, 2010 at 6:06 am

it does suck but it gives an even better reason to jam out to techno as loud as i can. :)

AntiPirateSquad February 21, 2010 at 6:35 am

but probably yes…. so be prepared for it to never leave…. hate to be harsh…. if you were blinded by a flash of light…. there’d only be a small chance of your site recovering…. noise induced trauma is permanent.

hdureh February 21, 2010 at 6:46 am

This is Junk Science. You cannot cancel out the sound in the way “noise cancelling” technology works,ie by applying a sound whose waves are 180 degrees in opposition from the sound you perceive. This is because the sound you think you hear isn’t real.

redwings141 February 21, 2010 at 7:37 am

yeah it is unfortunate! I’ve had this crap for 20 years and the only thing that has got me through is alcohol. I’m currently trying a neuromonics device that is supposed to suppress it. The cost for that is $5500 and of course insurance doesnt pay for it. Motherfuckers!

luxuanhao February 21, 2010 at 8:27 am

ppl like us who suffered from tinnitus are already damn unfortunate.. yet u still wan to cheat our money out of our misfortune.

notfinalized February 21, 2010 at 8:27 am

No necessarily, it could go.

notfinalized February 21, 2010 at 9:25 am

They only treat people who have had tinnitus for 6 months or more. Treatment is £300 for three sessions or you can buy the device for £700.

jolaniss February 21, 2010 at 9:59 am

To all you tinnitus patients. On new years eve, a firecracker went off between my feet, and I’ve had tinnitus, and I can hear crackling when I am exposed to high pitch or loud noises.

It’s only been five days, but, Am I stuck with it? Anyone?

Reginvels February 21, 2010 at 10:42 am

How much does it cost? How do you find that info?

Just thinking… Im from Denmark, and maybe people here could come together and buy one of these machines. And then it would be possible to loan it.. Maybe.. just an idea.

notfinalized February 21, 2010 at 11:18 am

I found out how much it costs today to have treatment. . Its too expensive. Why are these devices not available on the NHS?

teenqueen123456789 February 21, 2010 at 11:38 am

but i only have it in one of my ears tho so would it get worse even with my situation?

bugninja80 February 21, 2010 at 12:34 pm

Does anyone know if this device works? Please for the love of God tell me it works even a little.

Syeal7 February 21, 2010 at 1:23 pm

Sorry for laughing my ass off, but that most be the funniest way ever someone has achived the tinnitus, Im so gonna tell this to all of my friends xDDD

… ow PS, im sorry x)

By the way… My first comment here was for 8 months ago… Now 8 months later, the “sounds” really has increased.
Yeye, just gonna live with it, tough.

pkeduown February 21, 2010 at 1:30 pm

I have the same problem except i got it from chewing 4 gumballs all at once and i think my jaw popped or something and it caused my tinnitus.
Mostly my right ear cause that is the the one i chewed it with just some thing to look into.
Also my tinnitus used to be super loud and it calmed down over the months but its still there when i go to sleep.
I’m just 15 and i would just cry myself to sleep cause this drowns the noise of the ringing.
*cough*SUICIDE*cough*

korvix February 21, 2010 at 2:29 pm

it will get worse

teenqueen123456789 February 21, 2010 at 2:47 pm

ive had tinnitus ever seen i was 13 i am 16 now is that bad that i got it that young?

DLH8DeMoN February 21, 2010 at 3:19 pm

My dad hade a none serious tuma in his neck not so long ago, when he had it removed several nerves to his ear had to be removed, he says he only hears tinnitus from “time to time” now rather than alot. I just thought i’d tell you incase you wanted to look into that. I’m sure being a little deaf in one ear is better than dealing with tinnitus.
